Submarine Burger

I transformed Submarine Burger’s bold branding into a fun, fluid animation that captures their organic, ‘yellow-sub’ spirit.

Behind the Scenes

There is an inherent rhythm to the Submarine Burger aesthetic: It’s loud, organic, and unapologetically fun. To capture that, I let the periscope lead the way. I wanted the animation to feel like a short voyage, treating the periscope as our guide through a playful digital sea.

The result is a mascot-driven motion piece that feels as handcrafted as the brand itself.

How do you achieve a perfect 360° rotation on a tight deadline? To keep the periscope animation fluid and precise, I moved beyond traditional 2D. I built a 3D model in Houdini to serve as the ‘skeleton,’ then brought it into After Effects to apply a 2D aesthetic.

This hybrid 3D-to-2D pipeline allowed for instant adjustments to the timing and ‘swing’ of the submarine without the overhead of redrawing every frame.

A joy to create and even better to see in action. To ensure total brand consistency, I delivered a versatile toolkit of animations in multiple formats.

Whether it’s on a giant LED screen or a smartphone, the Submarine mascot is ready to dive in, making the project as functional as it is fun.
