Mombi

A complete 30-second campaign piece for Mombi, designed to inspire and excite.

Hope you enjoy watching it as much as I enjoyed creating it.

Behind the Scenes

This School of Motion course guided us through the entire process of creating a 30-second commercial: From bidding and client relations to design, animation, sound, and final delivery.

I chose to work on a script for Mombi, an alternate-universe tech giant (think Google’s counterpart) that makes email, calendar, and maps apps.

The assignment was to create a brand anthem spot with a bold, hopeful tone something epic enough for TV, web, social media, and trade shows.

The biggest thing I learned here is the importance of planning ahead and creating an animatic quickly. Doing this early in the project helps me make sure I’m on the right track with what the client wants to communicate.

The version on the right is an early-stage animatic, while the one on the left is the more refined version, created after the client (or in this case, my teacher/mentor) was happy with the direction.

Once the animatic was approved, the next step was designing styleframes, refining the composition and applying the established color palette to develop the overall visual direction.

Overall, a really great project, and it completely transformed how I approach real-world clients and gigs. And to wrap things up, here are a few tasty GIFs for your viewing pleasure.
